Contributing To Good African Charities

By James King

It is good to give. That hand that gives is the hand that receives. There is great blessing in giving. The world needs more givers. There are many people in Africa who are in need. Thus, contributing to African charities is a good idea. Even a small contribution will go a long way. It is not about the size of the contribution. Rather, it is about the heart. A person should give from his heart. Givers make the world to become a better place. That is the reality. It is the plain truth that should not be refuted by any person.

In most cases, people usually contribute in cash. So that charities can be able to carry out their duties effectively, they need to have money. A charity just like any other organization on earth will have a budget. When there is a budget deficit, it will be hard if not impossible to carry out some activities of the charity. That will live many hopeless.

There are a number of ways of sending cash. Bank transfer is one of them. Of course, the safest way of sending money is through bank transfer. It will take some days for the cash to reach the charity in question. Contributing using a credit or debit card can also be the case. That can happen through a payment gateway.

Cash is not the only type of donation. An individual can also donate in kind. Many people have a lot of stuff that they are no longer using. These need to be donated. There is totally no need to have a lot of stuff lying around with no use when these can be donated to other people in Africa.

There are many things that might be lying around in a house that a person is not using. This can be given to a charity that does work in Africa. One should particularly give away clothes that he is no longer using. One can also contribute food. Not everyone is living in plenty. There are people who lack the very basics.

Doing volunteer work in Africa is another way of helping underprivileged people in society. One can actually contribute his skills. There are places in this world that have a shortage of skills. That is due to the fact that people in such areas are not every educated. Actually, Africa and also Asia have a serious brain drain resulting to skills shortage.

A teacher can volunteer to teach in an African school free of charge. This will help in creating a more literate and educated Africa. Education is a powerful tool that helps to eradicate poverty in society. A medical practitioner can volunteer his medical skills in a particular African country. There is a shortage of medical talent in the developing world.

Finding a reputable charity is an important step. Not every organization that calls itself a charity is good. There are many frauds out there. Thus, one should be wary. Some charities use most of their monies in paying expensive salaries to managers. A large percentage of the budget of a charitable organization needs to go directly to charity work.
