An Insight On The Male Perspective On Divorce

By Stella Gay

Unlike what most of the media would tell the people, it is not always the fault of the man when a marriage does not work out. Of course when divorce becomes an issue in this case, then the men will always be at a disadvantage because most of the laws regarding these cases are actually biased. According to the general male perspective on divorce, it can be seen that men are definitely the ones that will lose out.

One of the biggest issues that most men are fighting for today would be the custody of the children during the separation of the spouses. Now this is simply because the children are usually with the mother while the father is bringing back home the bread. So the court would assume that the mother would know more about taking care of the kids as compared to the father.

Now not only will this affect the relationship of the children with the father but it will also make the father be put it a bad light. Since the influence of the mother is usually stronger than the dad, then the children may actually antagonize their father. It is because of this that a lot of children who come from broken families are not that close to their fathers.

Now if that is still not bad enough, then one should know that in a divorce case, a man may risk losing some of his assets. Now when a couple would get married, the courts would usually grant the partners access to each others assets. So if an ex wife may want to, she can actually fight for the ownership or just co ownership of some assets that belongs to the man.

Such an example would be the house and the car. Even if the man did pay for the house and the car, the wife may have a fighting chance of getting the house and car from the husband in court. This is simply because most laws would state that the assets of a married couple are to be split between the couple.

Now another thing about this type of situation is that the men would have to support their ex wives through alimony. Now even if the wife has already moved on, married another man, and had children with that other man, the ex husband must still pay alimony. This is definitely a big obstacle if he is to have his own financial stability.

Now fortunately, not all states are very extreme when it comes to the laws regarding alimony. There are some states that would first require a proper court procedure before the ex wife can claim anything from the ex husband. However, there are also some states that are more biased toward women and would favor the woman over the man.

Due to the gender bias in the laws, men have a generally very negative perception when it comes to divorce. It is actually because of this that a lot of men are fighting for the amendment of some laws. Though some states have more reasonable laws, other states are stricter.
