Over the past centuries it is gaining more popularity. Culture can be defined as a way of life accepted by a group of people as the appropriate and right way to live. Yoga culture is a form of mind exercise that tries to join together the mind and the body. More people are realizing the benefits of this philosophy. It is very effective as it works through controlling the nervous system which controls our health.

Like all other cultures, this too can be traced historically. It bears its roots from India around five thousand years ago. It was built on Buddhist and Jainism teachings that stood on the foundation of three elements. The first was controlled breathing. Second was meditation and third was exercise. The teachings were passed on by a teacher to a student who had to master discipline as the first virtue.

A good number of people are convinced it is a religion. The truth is, though it has some religious background. It is more of a way of life, some sort of philosophy that people live on. A key significance is that it helps the individual to stay younger and increase their life span as their bodies learn how to repair, heal and kick of diseases. Discipline is needed to separate the individual from his bodies desires.

It can be practiced for various reasons. Important in attaining a goal as it enables a person to focus, controlling your body, attaining consciousness and self awareness happens when the body is still and silent, that is when the soul speaks.

It has medical benefits. Recommended for cancer patients as it helps them to relax and control the pain. It is also administered to people struggling with addictions like alcohol and other drug abuse. Good in reducing stress, depression, fatigue and sleep disorders. Its also helpful in combating digestive disorders like constipation.

Persons who practise this sport are more empowered and less more appreciating of themselves. This sport can be practised to maintain a healthy weight. Also taken up to relax the muscles. Helps in maintaining the correct body posture and a good breathing system.

This practise has different schools which have a specific goal. Most of them have separated the human form into three with five important sheets. The epic center is the spinal cord and the diaphragm, this is where the person draws up energy. Jainism is a school that enables the person to control his thoughts and thus focus on nothing else but the soul.

Buddhism is also widely practiced. It allows the person to attain knowledge through concentration and insight. Hinduism tries to reach a state of isolation from the mind and any form of feelings or emotions. Hinduism contains tantra and hatha. Shavaism is a kind of yoga that is not used as a separation tool like the others but as a tool that brings together the individual with the important matter of the world, that is the universe. All people can take up the practice but some forms are not suitable for pregnant women and children.
