No More Stoking The Fireplace With Gas Logs

By Miranda Sweeney

During the winter season, nothing would feel so much better than just curling yourself up in front of the fireplace with a cup of coffee in one hand and a good book in the other. With both hands full, nothing will take care of the fire to keep them burning. However, it would be very inconvenient to sit up, add firewood and stoke them from time to time when you have already made yourself comfortable.

However, you can put an end to that. With gas logs Dallas, you just have to click on the remote to start a fire and keep warm for as long as you want. You do not have to leave your safe haven to add more wood anymore. It is of two types, vented and unvented.

Much similar to that of a real fire created by wood is the vented logs. It creates glowing embers and a yellow flame that makes it more real when you look at it. You will be tricked that the wood is really burning.

However, there is a down side to this. Vented logs, as much closer to reality as it looks, only provide ten percent of the heat it generates to the house. The rest is exhausted outside the house through the chimney. It is not the ideal kind of log set for people who are really looking for enough warmth in their home.

When it comes to providing warmth, the unvented logs is the answer. With this log set, ninety five percent of the heat is provided for the house. This also create glowing embers and a yellow flame, however, it does not look much real than vented ones. This kind of log set is very efficient for functional purposes.

As vented logs represent the looks, the unvented represent the heat a real wood fire can provide. Although to provide warmth is the primary function of the unvented type, this can pose a threat to safety. Because of the degree of heat this log set is able to provide, any object that is capable of burning that is within the range of the set can potentially cause fire. Because of this, precautionary measures should be observed all the times.

Also, the unvented one excretes an odor and causes the oxygen level inside the house to drop. This is very unfortunate for people with asthma. However, most of these log sets nowadays have a sensor that will automatically turn off the power of the log set if the oxygen level in the room is below the safe level.

If you decide to have gas logs in your house, evaluate first your purpose so that you can choose what type to buy. If you want it to be decorative, just to add a feeling of reality to your fireplace, the vented type would be ideal. But if you want it to be functional, go with the unvented type where you can get as much heat as possible for your house.

With winter just round the corner, make sure you will be able to stay warm while sipping that cup of coffee and reading that good book, without disturbances. Just put the remote for the gas logs in the table next to you and you are ready for a cozy and relaxing afternoon ahead.
